Sermon Series: The Story: Discipline & Deliverance
Text: 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, Jeremiah, Ezekiel
Preacher: Brent McCrory

There are Sunday School answers for questions, and then there are answers the Bible gives for questions. Now, am I taking a cheap shot at Sunday School? No.

I say “Sunday School” answers as a way of describing the common answers to questions and issues people have (in relation to the Bible).  I also say “Sunday School” because, often, “Sunday School” is associated with children (just as school is). Again, this is not disparaging; rather, it is descriptive.

And I say that to say this; we have got to move beyond Sunday School answers as we grow in our faith. Does this mean what a person learns in “Sunday School” is wrong. Not necessarily, no. But it does mean the truth can always be expounded upon…its implications must be allowed to make an impact on the lives of God’s people.

A case in point; what is the common (“Sunday School”) answer for why God’s people went into exile? More often than not, the answer is “idolatry.” While there is truth to this…there is also more to it. While the title kind of gives it away…it is still worth a listen, reflection, and application.
