It is futile to deny the reality that conflict is all around us (e.g., circumstances point to the obvious existence of it despite statements to the contrary). Similarly, it is unwise to think we can escape from the conflict all around us (e.g., as followers of Jesus we will, by default, be caught in the middle of it whether we want to be or not).
The continual establishment of God's Kingdom inevitably leads to conflict. While this may be unsettling, what truly matters is the authority of Jesus - which is clearly on display in Mark 1:21-34.
