Imagine you have a child who suddenly stopped physically developing and maturing.  Worse yet, imagine your infant never grew nor matured.  What would you do as a parent?  Would you seek answers?  Or would you ignore it?  For those who are parents I imagine it is not difficult to imagine seeking out a second or third (or more) opinion if you were in those situations.

I think most people would be appalled at a parent who did not care in such a situation.  It is a good thing to be concerned about the physical growth and well-being of your children.  Indeed, to not be concerned about it would be abnormal.

So why is it, when we come to The Church and the things of God, people can remain an infant Christian for decades and we excuse it?  Why is it we allow people to cease growing and maturing as a Christian and accept it as normal?  Certainly you've heard things like, "That's just the way ______ is, he/she has always been _________."

Is that not abnormal behavior for a Christian?

Titus 1:5-9 can help us in this area...but for it to help us we need to look at it a bit differently than perhaps we have in the past.
