There is charm in simplicity…there are also connotations in the specifics.  When we think of the “sacrifice” aspect of the Lord’s Supper there is a simple side – how we no longer have to follow the sacrificial regulations of the old covenant.  This certainly has appeal, or “charm” – after all who wants to sacrifice an animal?  Yet on the other hand, there is a side to the “sacrifice” aspect of the Lord’s Supper with many specifics – there are implications of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.  Unpacking those takes a lifetime.
