  • Series: Shaped By Worship

There is much confusion in our culture about a variety of things.  While some of them seem trivial, others are far from trivial and lead to much turmoil.

The subject of Christian "worship" is likewise enveloped in much confusion.  As the title to this sermon series, "Shaped By Worship" indicates, worship is foundational to the Christian life.  This makes the confusion surrounding worship extremely unfortunate.  Through this series my intention is to take a step back from the "brushstrokes" of worship and marvel at the overall “portrait” of worship painted by our Marvelous Creator.

The splendor of our Creator is clearly on display in the fourth and fifth chapters of Revelation.  In these chapters (and elsewhere in the Bible) we clearly see the foundational truth for all worship-related discussions; the realization of how it (worship) is our response to God (both Who He is and what He has already done).

I really appreciate this quote – "Worship is not, has never been, and never will be about you.  It is not, never has been, and never will be about me (Dr. Dinelle Frankland of Lincoln Christian University).  May we all take it to heart.
