Sermon Series: Thankventmas
Text: Ephesians 2:10-13; Acts 26:6-8; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Preacher: Brent McCrory
Advent is now here – a time of expectant and hopeful waiting. Initially The Church utilized Advent as a time to focus on – and long for – the second (and final) coming of Jesus. Over the course of time Advent shifted to be a time of looking forward to celebrating the initial coming of Jesus. Both of these emphases involve hope, and when one thinks of hope there is much to be thankful for.
Yet there is a difference between the essential nature of thankfulness and hope. This difference becomes clear as we define reality carefully.
