Sermon Series: Thankventmas
Text: Matthew 1:20-2:12; John 1:14; Luke 2:1-14; Matthew 1:1-3
Preacher: Brent McCrory
The season our culture labels “the Holiday Season” has been dubbed the most wonderful time of the year – at least in song. It should be telling how the lyrics of that song (“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”) have nothing to do with the Christmas Season itself. Yet this is where our culture is – and has been for quite some time.
Be this as it is, when we look more closely at the Christmas story, it quickly becomes clear this is the most astounding time of the year. Yet in order to begin to see this we have to take our eyes off our present circumstances and expectations. Fortunately the biblical text does this with a simple word – “behold” – used repeatedly in the early chapters of Matthew and Luke.
Listen in and let’s be thankful for Jesus.
