Wanda Mallette, Bob Morrison, and Patti Ryan wrote a song together which was released in June of 1980. While the names of those songwriters may not be familiar, it is quite possible the name of country music singer Johnny Lee, or the movie “Urban Cowboy,” or the song Looking for Love, are familiar. Basically, the song states one has been “Looking for love in all the wrong places…”
This same concept – looking for something in all the wrong places – can be applied to peace. Quite often peace is sought in a variety of places, or things, or situations, and based on Jesus’ words in John 14:27, there is a peace offered that is not from Him. What is are some dangers associated with this truth?
A reality is, many times we associate peace with a set of circumstances. Yet Biblical peace is not found in circumstances, but rather in the presence of Jesus. Therefore on this 4th Sunday of Advent, with a focus on peace, let us hear from God’s word together.
