Sermon Series: What Would Jesus Undo?
Text: Galatians 5:26; Philippians 2:3; Matthew 5:13-16; 6:1-2; 1 John 1:8-9; Proverbs 28:13

As we continue in our What Would Jesus Undo? series we come to a vice with an interesting label – vainglory. Seriously, it not only sounds odd…it sounds outdated too. I mean when was the last time – if ever – you have heard the word? However, simply because the word may be foreign to us…the concept, most assuredly, is not. This vice is alive and well today as it manifests itself in a variety of ways.

So, what does it mean? By breaking down the word (vain = empty; glory ~ praise, honor, weight) we see it means “to praise, or give weight to, something which is really empty.” I understand even breaking down the word for comprehension may not clear up all the murkiness surrounding the word. Therefore listen in as we continue our quest of cooperating with Jesus so He can undo the effects of sin in our lives.
